How do I apply for the IJCAHPO Certification Exam?

A passing score on the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Ophthalmic Medical Assisting exam serves as a prerequisite for the written certifying examination for ophthalmic medical assistants offered by the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO). Successful completion of this course alone does not constitute certification as an ophthalmic medical assistant.

To register for the IJCAHPO examination, students of the Academy's course must request an application form directly from IJCAHPO and return it with a copy of their document verifying successful completion of the Academy's course. Full details concerning the application/testing process are included in the IJCAHPO examination application packet. The Academy's letter verifying your successful completion of Ophthalmic Medical Assisting: An Independent Study Course, 7th Edition is valid for three years for IJCAHPO application purposes. For more information about the IJCAHPO assistant certifying examination or to obtain an application, please contact: International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology, 2025 Woodlane Drive, St. Paul, MN 55125-2995
