Establish your foundational coding knowledge during this three-hour course with Academy experts and support your success in ophthalmic practice. The 2023 Fundamentals of Ophthalmic Coding course is your best opportunity to become proficient with the essential rules of coding for all ophthalmic subspecialties through expert instruction and real-life case studies. The curriculum includes: 

  • Core competencies and coding fundamentals: 
    • Discover how payer policies are the crucial first step to correct coding
    • Develop expert knowledge in CPT and ICD-10 coding
    • Identify documentation requirements for testing services
    • Understand when to bill E/M or Eye visit codes 
    • Master the definitions and use of modifiers
    • Gain crucial competencies related to National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits
    • Identify how global periods impact coding
  • Understanding your role and responsibilities in preparing for the inevitable audit
  • Avoiding common coding pitfalls related to Premium IOL, co-management and more

Each attendee will receive an expansive electronic workbook that includes fact sheets, documentation checklists and other trusted coding resources developed by the Academy. Attendees will receive a complimentary recording of the live course.

What type of continuing education credit does this course offer?
This course is approved for up to 3 CME credit for attending the live virtual webinar and 3 CME credit for viewing the on-demand recording. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Only registered participants will be eligible to claim CME credits.

Yes, the recording will be available for purchase to qualified members and non-members.
