How do I search for products?
In the upper right corner, there is a search button next to a magnifying glass. Once you click on search or the magnifying glass there’s a field that appears. You can Search by product name, number or keyword. Your search results will then be displayed.

How do I get to the checkout page to complete my purchase?
In the upper right corner, there is an orange shopping cart icon. Click on that icon and you will be taken to your shopping cart, where you can complete your purchase.

How do I make changes to my product selections in the shopping cart?

  • To remove something from your cart, simply click "Remove item" under the product name and number. You will be prompted to confirm removal; click "yes". 
  • To change the quantity of an item in your cart, type the quantity you want in the "Qty" column, and click on the gray "Update Shopping Cart" button at the bottom of the Qty column.


How do I get my member discount when I order online?
You must be logged in with your Academy member account to receive the member discount. Click "Log In" at the top of the page. On the next page, under "Existing Customers," enter your Academy member username and password. If you can"t remember your password, click on "Forgot your password?" and follow the instructions. If you are an Academy member, DO NOT create a new account, as it will not be connected to your member record, and you will not receive the discount.

How do I access my online products?
You must be logged in with your Academy account to access your online products. Click on your name at the top navigation bar. The window will show your account information and click on "My Online Products"

How do I get back to the Academy main page from the store?
Click on the American Academy of Ophthalmology logo in the upper left corner of the page. It will take you directly to the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s main website.

If I have to leave the Academy Store before I"m finished shopping, will the items in my shopping cart be saved?
If you close the browser window before you have logged in, then the items in your shopping cart will not be saved. If you have logged in with your username and password and you log out before completing your purchase, then the items in your shopping cart will be saved.

I have questions and want to talk to a person. How can I reach a customer service representative?
Phone 866.561.8558 (toll free in the U.S. and Canada only) or +1 415.561.8540 (outside the U.S.). Customer service representatives are available to assist you Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Pacific Time. You may also contact a representative via email at customer_service@aao.org.

How long will it take for my order to arrive? 
Order shipping times are as follows:

  • United States and Canada: Orders are sent via UPS Ground and usually arrive within seven to 10 days from the date the order is received.
  • All other countries: Orders are sent via UPS Worldwide Eexpedited and usually arrive within two weeks from the date the order is received.
  • All shipments are subject to stock availability.
  • Track your shipment at www.ups.com

What types of payment do you accept?
The Academy accepts the following types of payment:

  • Credit card: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB
  • Check or money order payable to AAO in U.S. funds (mail orders only)
  • All orders must be prepaid. We do not accept cash on delivery (COD) orders.

What are your shipping rates?
Shipping charges are determined when you check out. The Academy has worked diligently to offer every customer—whether domestic or international--the best shipping rates possible. The fees are calculated based on the shipping location and the weight of the product. The Academy does not add a premium to the price of products to offset shipping costs.

Please note:

  • Additional customs charges, such as duties and taxes, are your responsibility.
  • Shipping fees are nonrefundable.
  • Street address is required; deliveries cannot be made to post office boxes.

How can I request a rush order? 
During check out, you can choose from a variety of shipping methods including Two Day, Standard Overnight and Priority Overnight. Air delivery orders placed on weekdays by noon Pacific Time will ship that day. Ground delivery orders placed before noon Pacific Time will ship the next work day. International orders placed before noon Pacific Time will ship within one work day.

I live outside the United States. Is there anyone I can contact in my local area to purchase Academy products?  
For your convenience, Academy products are available in your region through our worldwide distribution partners and their local agents. To order products, please contact the distributor directly.

I was offered a promotional discount in a brochure/fax/email I received from the Academy. How can I redeem it? 
On the lower left side of your shopping cart, there is a box labeled "Promotion Code".  Enter the promotion code in that box and click the gray "Apply Code" button.

How do I access the online products that I"ve purchased? For example, Focal Points or the Practicing Ophthalmologists Learning System
Go to the Academy"s home page (www.aao.org) or the Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE®) Network (www.aao.org/one) and log in with your username and password. In the upper right blue box, under your name, click on "My Online Products." A new window will pop up, showing all of your online products. Click on the product you would like to access. Alternatively, you can go to www.aao.org/myonlineproducts, log in with your username and password, and select the product you would like to access.

How do I get back to the Academy home page from the Academy Store?
Click on the Academy logo in the upper left-hand corner. If you have placed items in your cart but are not ready to purchase them yet, don"t forget to log in before closing your browser, or those items will be lost.
