A license holder may download purchased eBooks on up to five personal devices. eBook license holders can access the content for the life of the product. Typically, this is five years from the date of publication, except in instances where the content is specific to a particular year or if the purchase was for a subscription of a given length.
Recommendations
Not recommended for use with tablet/smartphone operating systems that are not installed by the manufacturer. Not recommended for smartphones with screens smaller than five inches.
We recommend user to use apps on devices rather than web-based readers for better performance and usability.

INSTRUCTIONS
STEP ONE User Access Key Redemption Instructions
(If you purchased your eBook directly from the Academy and were not sent an access key, skip to step two below.)
Visit aao.org/accesskeys
Type the access key into the access key field.
Click “Submit”.
Log in with your Academy website username and password OR create an account if you do not have an account.
Click “Access” displayed below the product or exam title or image.
STEP TWO eBook Access Instructions
To Access Online:
Visit aao.org and log in with your username and password.
Click on “My Online Products” in your account widget.
Click on the title of your new eBook.
You may be asked to log in with your username and password again.
Click on “Read eBook”.
To Access from an Apple iPad or iPhone:
Visit aao.org and log in with your username and password.
Click on “My Online Products” in the widget on the right side of your screen.
Click on the title of your new eBook to activate your access.
Download the AAO eBooks app from the App Store.
Open the App Store app on your device.
Tap the search icon at the bottom of the screen.
Type “AAO eBooks” into the search field and tap the search button.
Look for the “American Academy of Ophthalmology eBooks” app and tap the “Get” button.
Tap “Install”.
Once the app finishes downloading, tap the “AAO eBooks” icon to open.
Log in to the app with your Academy username and password.
Tap on the bookshelf icon in the bottom right corner.
Tap on the cover image of your new eBook to download.
After the book has downloaded, tap on it again to read.
To access from an Android tablet:
Visit aao.org and log in with your username and password.
Click on “My Online Products” in the widget on the right side of your screen.
Click on the title of your new eBook to activate your access.
Download the AAO eBooks app from the Google Play Store.
Open the “Play Store” app on your mobile device.
Type “AAO eBooks” into the “Google Play” search field and tap the search button.
Look for the “American Academy of Ophthalmology eBooks” app under the apps category.
Tap “INSTALL”.
Tap “ACCEPT”.
Once the app finishes downloading, tap the “AAO eBooks” icon to open.
Log in to the app with your Academy username and password.
Tap on the bookshelf icon in the top navigation to locate your e-bookshelf.
Tap on the cover image of your new eBook to download.
After the book has downloaded, tap on it again to read.
