Endophthalmitis is defined as inflammation of the internal structures of the eye, and can be infectious or noninfectious. This module limits the discussion to infectious postoperative endophthalmitis. Although an uncommon occurrence, endophthalmitis continues to be a source of considerable ocular morbidity.
