New topics have been added to the Practicing Ophthalmologists Learning System
Recently, those topics not related to maintenance of certification (MOC) were reviewed for clinical currency. During this review, additional clinical material was identified that would make the product a more complete clinical knowledge base. In addition, other topics were revised to reflect up-to-date clinical practice. If you have already purchased the system, these new topics and revisions have been automatically added for you. None of the MOC topics were affected or changed.
MOC Exam Preparation
The Practicing Ophthalmologists Curriculum (POC) was updated for publication in February, 2011 with input from the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The POC serves as the basis for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) examinations. The Practicing Ophthalmologists Learning System's "MOC Only" filters allow you to focus on POC topics and efficiently prepare for MOC examinations, including the Demonstration of Ophthalmic Cognitive Knowledge (DOCK). MOC may help you renew your medical license(s) as states allow the process to meet the requirements for the new Maintenance of Licensure (MOL). MOC content is valid for DOCK examinations taken in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Version 2 of the Practicing Ophthalmologists Learning System will be released in November 2013, with content valid for DOCK examinations taken in 2014, 2015 or 2016.
The POC is reviewed and revised every three years to ensure clinical currency. This version of the POC is applicable for DOCK examinations for 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Although MOC content expires in 2013, the product will remain accessible to you through Feb. 15, 2016.
CME Information
This activity comprises 12 separate modules, 11 of which carry a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ each. The Core module does not carry CME credit. For CME credit, be sure to complete this activity prior to February 15, 2014.
